"We've gotta find Max! We can't just leave him out here. He won't know where we are!" Landri said fearfully. Fayern thought to himself. They hadn't found him yet and the island was huge. There were two options. He told them this before coming to the conclusion. "Either we ditch this plan and get back to safety," He glanced at Sal. He clearly thought this was a great idea. "Or, we camp out and keep searching." "And hope that Max hasn't been captured already." Landri added. Fayern nodded in agreement. He noticed Sal wasn't saying anything, and decided to ask him what he had on his mind. "Sal, is there anything you haven't told us? Have you seen these Pirates before?" Sweat pooled in her clothes as she looked wildly for a way to escape. He followed her eyes, and guessed what she was doing. "Arggg. You're not escaping here girly." With his free hand, he motioned for the pirates to move in front of any escape routes. "Argggg. Lift anchor!" The anchor came up with a deafing thud. The sun beat down on Kali, making her parched and worn out. The island was a minute dot in the hazy distance. The pirate with the dagger had moved away when he was sure that his captive was not going to escape. She was slowly inching her way out of her bonds, as the pirate who tied her up did not know how to make a knot. At last, she broke free. Kali scretched her legs in relief, and peered over the edge of the boat. Her reflection peered back in the icy cold water. To Fayern and Landri, it meant one word; Escape. Mixed feelings entered and swirled in Fayern's body. He could go! Away from this island where so many of his friends had lost their lives. He turned to Landri, who looked relieve. They smiled at each other and shared a fulfilled hug. Then he turned to Sal. His face had formed back to its old self. Old. Old and tired. Fayern grasped his shoulder reassuringly. "You can come with us." Fayern suggested. "Landri! We need to get the others. I think the Pirates are gone. Tell them to meet at the beach, where we got washed up." Landri smiled and nodded, before sprinting off until she was a blur in the distance. Fayern turned to Sal. "So. Let's go check out this boat." *** Sal and Fayern reached the beach. Sure enough, a proud ship was docking in the cove. Fayern jumped and yelled, trying to attract attention. "Fayern." Sal said. Fayern turned and saw Landri walking, followed by Rachi, Aja and everyone else. The villagers were even helping carrying the injured. The captain of the ship and a few of his crew had reached them. From here, they could see the name of the ship.
