Most people are scammed but I dont think OurWorld can do much. The best thing to do is if someone comes up to you and asks you to gift them, in exchange with you gifting them DO NOT AGREE. I was once very new and i spent my 200 gems on a girl who offered to buy me everything from my wishlist. Most people begging for gifts are desperate so you can ignore them if it gets out of hand.

I've never fell for it but, one thing does bother me.
If...someone says "I'll give you a gift if you give me on too"...isn't it kinda yelling scam?
If the scammer had the gems and are willing to give you a gift if you also give them one, then why don't they get the item themself?
And if, the scammer were to say "I'll give you a gift for 20 gems but, I need a gift that's worth 30 gems because I don't have enough." Then, the only reason the one being a fool is going to say yes is if they never cared for their gems anyways.
What other reason would anyone possibly say yes to this? Because they want the gift to appear on their profile and it looks like lots of people gave them a gift?
Everyone should carefully think about the situation first and deduce what will happen as a result of both answers. That would probably help most when people get into this type of situation. Or they should just simply restrict themselves from ever giving gifts to strangers as you've mentioned.

I just found someone being scammed he tried it on my noob. This is how it goes;
Scammer;I'll buy you gems if you gift me.
someguy; okay.. but you have to go first
Scammer; okay -sends fake email saying you've recieved gems-
someguy; Thank you for the gems! -gifts using his own gems-
Scammer; -He fooled him for the gift & he will never recieve those gems.

That was the first time someone did that.

It happened with me By a sucker i dont really remember her name
She is even not a noob she have a lot of gifts which she trick people saying them i will buy u gems if u gift me,
after u gift her she will block and remove u  she is totally a sucker without those much gifts all she have to do is trick people and that's it
She have a lot of gifts last i saw they were 100+ GIFTS from people she trick and all her friends are residents well most of them
THEY must really disable her chat she always beg me for gifting her i really didnt want gems i already have a lot of gems
and SHE always hang out with residents and she always acts that all those gifts she bought by her own gems
but i remember her crew name its something with oOoSpidermanoOo
